Julia Leone

Camp SAY Associate

Julia is so honored to serve the stuttering community as a Camp SAY Associate. Julia began working for SAY as a camp counselor while studying to earn a degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies at Ithaca College. She found that the teachings at SAY ignited a passion for service in the scope of communication. Previously, Julia has worked with children in many capacities including as an after-school teaching assistant at South Hill Elementary School, and a proud co-leader of the Imagination Station at Renbrook Summer Adventure. Her studies allowed her to complete a successful student-clinician semester at Longview Senior Center where she had the profound and deeply impactful experience of administering therapy to do with cognition and working memory maintenance. Beyond a passion for communication science, Julia has always deeply loved the theater arts. Most notably Julia has been a part of several performing improv troupes over the past 8 years and credits her love of improv to the creative spirit she brings to her work at SAY. Julia recognizes the tremendous honor it is to create with and learn from the young people at SAY, and she feels truly blessed to work in a space that allows her to feel challenged, supported and fulfilled.
